Tag: What’s My Face Worth - Revisit March 2015

Hey there!

I was looking back through my blog posts (about a year back) and I came across the What's My Face Worth tag. I read the post and almost laughed. The post said my face was worth $173.49. So you know what I did? Yep! I pulled out what I wore today and re-wrote the post!

My life has changed so much. In the first paragraph of primers and such I spent $98. Wanna know what I primed with this morning? I did use the same Bare Minerals Concealer ($20, and not the SAME one. This is a new one) but I didn't use eye stuff at all. I used my Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer ($18) and instead of foundation, my MAC Studio Fix Powder ($27). So my face prep was only $65 this morning.

Yes, I still take a sip of coffee and pick out a pair of earrings and then put on...Maybelline Baby Lips in Beam of Blush ($3.49). Maybelline Baby Lips is the best brand of lip moisturizer for underneath lipstick, hands down.

My bronzer back then is almost the same price! This morning I wore e.l.f. Mineral Glow in bronzed ($8). And the blush I'm wearing this week? Boots No.7 Natural Blush Tint Powder in Spice ($9.99). So my bronzing and blushing are still about the same.

I normally do wear brow stuff. But, I freshly shaped my brows this morning so I didn't put anything on them. And I've mentioned my Blepharitis before so for the most part, I avoid eye makeup. I know the post says I go gently into eye makeup but after months of trying to dance around it, I gave up. I occasionally wear powdered eyeliner but more often than not, nothing, and that works for me.

I did use a Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Pencil ($6.29) but I'm road testing an Essence lippie ($2.99). No gloss today because of that.

And that is my new perfection.

I know, it's a lot less makeup. Wonder why? Sleep. I chose sleep and that means I can't do quite as much makeup in the morning. And, no one has spit or laugh at me so it must be ok. I think I still look pretty good.

Oh yeah! I have tried many new makeup products over the last year. Some of them were high end. Some of them were super inexpensive. I've done quite a bit of research. I was pretty darn sure that my face would cost quite a bit now.

Today my face was worth $95.76. That's almost half of what I use to spend. Now, now, don't go all crazy. That was just today. Had I pulled out my highlighter from yesterday, it would have added $24. Had I chosen the face powder from yesterday, I'd have spent $3.99 instead of $27. It just varies.

I still found the whole process fascinating. I think maybe in 6 months or so I'll try it again and see what the total is. Won't that be fun?

So should my goal be use expensive stuff everyday or cheapy cheap stuff every day?

Nah, I think it should be use what you love every day!

November Faves

 Hey There!

It's been about two months since I've done a favorites blog post. I spent a while testing new products so I didn't have a real favorite. When you are using something new every 2 or 3 days you don't have a chance to become attached to any one thing. This weekend, I was setting out my makeup for the week (yes, I choose blushes and bronzers for the week, just like my clothes) and I realized that I did have some favorites this past month. There were some items that stayed in rotation.

I think I have found my holy grail face primer. I wanted to fall in love with a primer because everyone else is. Once I understood what primers were supposed to do, I tried several of them this year and then me, being the princess that I am, found the most expensive one on the list. I've been using my Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer. It's a smooth base that is one of the only primers I've found to keep my t-zone (my nose) from getting greasy. I wear eyeglasses so that's a tall order. Hourglass has met the challenge and it's worth the money for that alone.

I have kept my e.l.f. Blush (dark) Palette on my counter all month. This has been the variety in blushes that I've needed. I may pull one or two single blushes out but I tend to reach for this and choose one of the 4 gorgeous colors. It seems that within this palette I have all that I need. I might not ever have to buy another blush again. Bwah - ha ha. I know. That was funny.

I bought this L.A. Colors Mineral Pressed Powder pretty recently but I have picked up this powder almost every day since I bought it. This has rivaled my MAC and LancĂ´me powders. It's smooth and a great color match. No, I'm not going to toss out my high end face powders but this one will stay in rotation with them.

My NARS creamy concealer has been my love since I received it in my Sephora VIB haul. I cover my dark spots and I feel comfortable that when I get home from work, I will still have spot coverage. No, it won't be perfect (not 12 hours later) but it won't be dark and glaringly obvious. I've pulled out the other concealers once or twice, simple because I don't want them to dry out or anything.

I've been testing different lipsticks all month so I don't have a favorite right now. What has been a constant is my NYX retractable lip liner in Nude Pink. It's a great nude for my lips and it has worked with many different shades of lipsticks. I've had a few lipsticks that without liner, are sliders but this lip liner has kept them in place.

My eyebrow combo has been my Anastasia Brow Wiz pencil in Soft Brown and my e.l.f. Wet Gloss Lash And Brow Clear Mascara. Man! I've been missing out on eyebrow life with this. I mentioned that I had tried Anastasia Brow products before and wasn't a fan. If I had tried this perfect duo before, I'd have never tried anything else.

And that's all folks. It's not a large loves list this month, but it's nuthin' but love. Everything has been used more in November than anything else. You have to keep reading though because I have a lot of stuff that I've been playing with so December favorites might be even more exciting.

Or you might see the same things next month. You never know.

Sunday Funday - Beauty Alert Tag

Hey there!!

I like makeup tags. Tags cause me to go back and evaluate what I have. They make me to think about the purchases that I've made and I get to show you good people what I think is great or horrible.

Most of the time (Ok! All of the time.) I tag myself. I don't have a problem with that. If you tag yourself, you don't have to wait for someone else to tag you. So, if you are wondering...I am tagging all (both) of you!

Beauty Alert Tag

1. Favorite face product?
2. Worse face product bought?
3. All time favorite eye product?
4. Favorite lipstick brand?
5. Favorite drugstore brand?
6. Favorite high-end brand?

1. Favorite face product? So you get to see a peek into my next MAC month makeup item because my current favorite face product is my MAC Fix +. I was late in discovering this powder but honestly, the reason I love it so much is because it is a PERFECT match for my complexion. Really, it is. I've been using it in the summer and adding my bronzer but in the winter, it's that perfect touch of color that I need.

2. Worse face product bought? I try really hard to research products before I buy them so I don't often by things that I don't like. And, if by chance, that does happen, I return things with the quickness. That being said, I have a whole drawer of face primers.

I understand what face primers are for. But, they don't seem to do anything that I can see. I don't see that they minimize anything or help my makeup glide on or help it stay on. The products I use are products that I love because have longevity. I don't see that all of these primers help. The ONLY two exceptions are the Hourglass Mineral Veil and Becca Shimmering Skin Primer. I use the Hourglass all over and I get just a beautiful glow. I use the Becca in my cheek region and whatever blush and bronzer that I wear stays perfectly. I don't use them at the same time though.

3. All time favorite eye product. I don't wear much in the way of eye makeup anymore (too many eye issues) but when I do, I always use my NYX Eye Shadow Base in skin tone. My eyeshadow lasts all day with this stuff. I've tried many other eyeshadow primers and they just don't seem to do what this stuff does! Magic, I tell you, magic!

4. Favorite drugstore brand? Wow, that is so hard because right now, the drugstore brands are really on their game! They are working it. If I had to choose, I'd go with NYX because of their butter glosses. I have one of those on most days. They are comfortable and sheer and they smell delightful.

5. Favorite high-end brand? Arggg! That's hard too! I've recently spent more time in my local Sephora than I care to admit. If I had to narrow it down (and thank goodness I don't have to) I'm loving the Sephora brand right now. I'm using some of their lippies and blushes and they are doing it right for summer! The color palette is nice and the products I've been using have been great.

Can I tell you how hard that was? I'm an equal opportunity gal and narrowing it down to one item or brand is difficult for me. Thank goodness I don't have to do it all the time.

What are you loving right now? What are you regretting? I'm tagging you so leave a comment and add your blog, video, whatever and let us know!!
