Empties!

Hey there!

Let's change it up a bit this month. I normally start with the bath stuff. Let's go with something else first!

I finished a pack of face wipes. I used the Trader Joe's Micellar Cleanser & Makeup Remover ($3.99). I've been trying new face wipes because I want to use products that are better for me on my skin. I don't think this is it though. It removed the makeup that I wore but I felt like it left a residue that I had to get off of my face. I also finished another tube of Clobetasol Propionate. I have seborrheic dermatitis and this helps. I tossed these Goody Skinny Bobby Pins (actually, I took them to work). They didn't work and I was disappointed. I also finished a Lush sample of Vanishing Cream. Nothing vanished.

I washed my hair. You can congratulate me later. I finished a Hydrating Macadamia Oil Shampoo & Conditioner (BOGO - 2/$7.99) and a Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo from OGX. I love the OGX products. I am out of shampoo so I took the opportunity to buy a huge container of Nioxin Shampoo  (and a small container of conditioner). My hairdresser recommended #4 for the kiddo and myself. I'll let you know how it works.

I moisturized my feet and hands this month. I used up a small Aveda Foot Relief. I used to have this as my holy grail foot lotion but I'm not rich. I can't spend the money on it. I've been branching out. I also finished a Dial 7 Day Moisturizing Lotion. It was a sample from one of my Walmart Boxes. I liked it a lot. It was very moisturizing.

You know what you don't see in my bath products? Avon products. I used up all the ones I had and I'm not sure that I want to purchase more of them. There are so many more products to try out and I have a lot of bath products that I need to finish. For instance, I used up an Equate Body Wash in Tranquil Dusk ($2.88). It smelled nice and lathered well. I finished 2 Bath & Body Works minis. I finished a Twilight Woods and a Japanese Blossom. Both of them were very nice, lathered well and worth another purchase.

I got a Caress Fine Fragrances shower gel in Love Forever. It was ok, nothing to write home about. It has a lot of color added and I was scared that it would stain my towels. It didn't but there wasn't a lot of lather and was heavily perfumed. Not worth the purchase in my book. I also finished a Lush Space Girl bath bomb ($5.25). It made the bath water purple and it smelled good. Unfortunately, I forgot to write down what it smelled like! But it was good. Worth buying it again.

That's what has been sitting in the green tub this month. Nothing too crazy. What did you use up this month? Do you plan on buying it again?

Empties!

Hey there!

It's trash day! You know, that wonderful day that I pull out all the trash from my bathroom (well, not all of it) and show you what I used up in a month. I also give you a mini review on the stuff.

Let's start in the tub, as I always do. You will notice that something is absent. There aren't any bubble baths. I know. I've been mixing and matching and I haven't used any of them up. Keep waiting though, it's coming. What you do see is that I finished 3 shower gels. I finished a Zest Creamy Cocoa Butter & Shea body wash. It was creamy, lathered well and smelled very good. I would definitely buy it again. One of my favorite shower gels is Bath & Body Works Energy; Orange Ginger Body Wash and Foam Bath. I love it. It smells so good and wakes me up. It says that it boosts your energy and I kinda think it does. I also finished a tiny bottle of Japanese Cherry Blossom from B&BW. It was fine. I probably wouldn't buy it again though.

Skincare is important this time of the year. I have to use heavier creams and I take extra care to make sure my makeup is off at the end of the day. The first facial cream that I used up was the L'Oreal Revitalift Triple Power Deep-Acting Moisturizer (whew! that's a mouth full!). I really liked it. It was moisturizing enough for winter without turning my face into an oil slick. It also smells pretty darn good! It smells...clean. When I finished this little gem up, I used a sample of the L'Oreal Age Perfect Cell Renewal Day Cream. That did it for me. I ran out and purchased a full size (ok, a small full size) the next day! It is just as good as the Revitalift but I feel that the shea butter and ...never mind. I liked the gold packaging better, ok? The stuff inside seemed the same to me. Both of them make my face feel really good and that's worth any amount of money.

I finished up 2 types of wipes this month. I purchased a Pond's Wet Cleansing Towelette (5 pack) for my travels. It's ok. It's nothing special. I finished my Wet n Wild Under The Sheets Makeup Removing Towelettes and made damned sure I had a backup pack on hand! I have fallen in love with these wipes. They are wet enough and soft enough that they feel like a wash cloth taking off the first layer of makeup. If I could put them into one of those baby wipe warmers without breaking down the remover stuff inside, that would be heaven! These are about $2.99 or $3.99 but so worth it. If you see these in your store, you should definitely check them out. They don't remove all your makeup (what remover wipe does?) but they are a good first step.

So you are probably wondering why that hair brush is in my empties. Well, I bought a new one. I had had this one for years and it was just time. I finished another tube of Clobetasol Propionate for my seborrheic dermatitis and a small bottle of Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo. I love all things Organix brand. I finished a bottle of CVS nail polish remover. Stay tuned. I purchased something new and exciting in the realm of nail polish remover and boy do I like it! I also tossed 2 very old body oils (Amber White Type and one without a name). I like body oils because they don't normally make me sneeze like some perfumes do. They also last longer throughout the day.

Let's talk toothpaste. You normally see Colgate brand in my empties. You might even see a Crest brand in my empties. When it comes to toothpaste, I am normally brand (kinda) loyal. But, I had heard soooo many good things about this Dollar Tree brand of Natural White Sensitive Whitening Fluoride toothpaste that I really wanted to test it out. That many people can't be wrong. Well, they were. This stuff was horrible. It was a super thin consistency and I felt like it always just ran out of my mouth. And, it was overly pepperminty. It was like my mouth was numb afterwards. I was so glad to be done with this tube. I didn't even try to get the last remnants like I do with other brands. I didn't see that it did anything special either. I mean, it didn't do anything bad, but it didn't do anything good. It did teach me that I can switch between Colgate and Crest if I want to. It would appear that those two do the same thing. This one probably does too, just in a runny form and I don't like that.

My non beauty related empty are these packets of water enhancer. Crush Singles To Go water enhancer in orange, strawberry and pineapple help me drink my daily allotment of water. I'm not a huge water fan but these add enough flavor to my water that I have no problem guzzling them down. I also use them with soda stream seltzer water, just very carefully (the water will fizz up quickly if you add them too fast). They are $1 for a 6 pack at Dollar General and Family Dollar. There is also a grape flavor but it's just ok.

And that's my trash! Nothing real fancy this month. Can't promise that there will be anything real fancy next month. But there you have it!

What did you toss this month? Will you try it again? Was it a freebie or a purchase?

Empties!

Hey there!

So you've come back yet again to ramble through my bathroom trash can. Well come on in. You'll see some of the same items and a few new ones.

Major shocker -- I used up two AVON Bubble Baths (Vanilla Cream & Warm Vanilla & Fig - 2 for $10). I love them both and will always have both of these in my bathroom.  A while back I purchased 3 ULTA brand bubble bath minis (Marshmallow Chick and Yum Yum Yumberry - 3 for $10). None of them were super remarkable and I have no plans of repurchasing them. They didn't lather that well and honestly I was glad to get rid of them.

Another tube of Clobetasol Propionate. As I say each month, I don't have dandriff, I have seborrheic dermatitis. I know, I know. You can learn so much medical stuff from my blog! This is real life people! Anyway, I get a prescription from my doctor's office for this.

I finally finished my last Jergens Extra Moisturizing Hand Wash ($1 from Dollar Tree). I say finally because while this USE to be my favorite hand soap of life, I traded it in for the Bath & Body Works hand soaps. But, before I pulled out a B&BW hand soap, I wanted to use all of my Jergens up. Well, a few days ago that dream happened. Of course I'll purchase this again, when B&BW stops making hand soaps -- or I get tired of them and come back.

I finished a Colgate Total Toothpaste. I always stick with Colgate because my dentist said so. I don't think I always tell you good people about it. Sorry about that because I know that you want to know!

I've mentioned my uses of the eyebrow razor that I use to the unruly beasts above my eyeballs. These Annie Eyebrow razors. I get a pack of 3 or 5 from the beauty supply store. I can't remember the price but I normally go through one per month.

I included a toothbrush to remind you to change your toothbrushes every few months. If you get a cold or sick, change it after the illness. I keep mine and use them to clean things.

I picked up new large hair pins. As you can see, these were getting pretty darn ratty. I use this to pin my hair up each night or just get my hair out my face in general.

Pacifica Color Quench lip balm. I did a blog post on it. Nuff said.

I am tossing a CVS Nail Polish Corrector Pen. It was a nice idea but this didn't work.

The next items were used by the kiddo. I purchased the Murad Acne Starter Kit ($30) for her. We did a 15 day review. Consider this our 30 day review. I don't feel that it did anything better than anything else. She didn't think so either.

She did try the Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser ($8.47) and felt that she got better results from that than anything else she had used. We tried the sample and then I purchased the full size for her.

And, last but not least, my random item. It gets cold at night and sometimes I need a bit of tea to get warm. I finished a box of Yogi Tahitian Vanilla Hazelnut tea. It's caffeine free so I drink it at night before bed. Love this. If you haven't tried it, pick up some from Wal-Mart or Target and try it.

And that's my trash. I can now throw all these items out!
