Moisturizer Search part 3

Hey there!

This post should be titled, "another one bites the dust".

I am giving the CVS Pharmacy Moisturizing Lotion (aka, Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion dupe) the boot. I had high hopes for this moisturizer and it failed miserably.

I have been searching for the perfect moisturizer ever since my holy grail moisturizer changed its formula. I am so darn picky that the search has been a struggle! On days 1 and 2, I thought I had a real contender. Then I woke up to an oil slick on day 3.

My normally, normal but sensitive skin was full of oil. My white pillowcase was ruined and my glasses slid off my face, onto the carpet, on the way to the bathroom. Because my daughter was trying the same moisturizer, she had used all of my e.l.f. blotting paper. What happened?

The "rich emollients" happened I guess. That's what the back of the bottle says it has in it. It took them a few days to show up and then they showed out! Mount Vesuvius appeared on my forehead and I was through! I don't normally have breakout and there they were -- a cluster of volcanic eruptions just waiting to happen.

I was NOT amused.

On the way home, I stopped at Wal-Mart and picked up YET ANOTHER moisturizer. My dermatologist recommended this one. She said it was lighter than the others and SPF free (I am allergic to too high SPFs on my face - body is ok). So, the kiddo and I are going to try this one. If it doesn't work, I'll be forced to purchase the expensive one that doesn't seem to do anything.

I'm desperate people!

My face is desperate!!

I am sooo mad at you Garnier!

Moisturizer Search part 2

Hey there!

It's not a secret that I'm on the hunt for a new moisturizer (or maybe it is - I dunno). And, I mentioned that I may have found one that I like. I'm picky when it comes to moisturizers so I was prepared for a long search. I'm not 100% sure that my search is over.

I've been using Sephora's Super Loaded Age Defy Serum for over a month now. It costs $32 for 1.0 fl oz and as the name suggests, you can only purchase it at Sephora. It's light weight, smells nice and leaves my skin feeling soft. Squeeze 2 pumps out of the tube to moisturize, and squeeze 3 pumps to luxurize your skin (I know that's not a real word but it kinda is!). It's hydrating for the day, not quite enough for night (but it doesn't promise to be for night time).

And that's it. I mean that's nice but for $32 I kinda want something to happen. I want my skin to be better not just the same. And, I don't particularly care for the bottle. I can't tell how much is left. I just keep hoping that it's a whole lot.

That being said, yes, I'll probably buy it again. I haven't found anything else that seems to moisturize enough without burning or irritating my skin. Everything has high SPF now. The problem with that is I'm apparently allergic to that much SPF. I can take smaller amounts but that's all.

I am still looking but I think I've found the one. And, because I'm still looking, I'm not really sure that I have found the one.

Sighhhh, stay tuned.

Moisturizer Search

Hey there!

I've mentioned that I'm on the hunt for a new moisturizer. Actually, I think I've found one that I like. I'm still testing it out but it seems to work for me.

Meanwhile, let me tell you about two that I absolutely didn't like.

Both of these moisturizers are by the brand Simple. I liked the idea that my moisturizer was "kind to skin". And, I thought that because they were "sensitive skin experts" I'd have no problem with these moisturizers burning my face.

WRONG!

I tried the Simple Protecting Light Moisturizer with an SPF 15. Normally SPF 15 is light and doesn't bother my face. SPF any higher than that burns my face and leaves red blotches. 15 is normally fine. Heck, 18 is normally ok. This one didn't burn but it was really thick and it irritated my face. I tried this one on two different occasions and it reacted the same each time.

A few weeks later, I tried Simple Ultra-light Gel Moisturizer.  This one doesn't have SPF at all so I felt it would be good for my face. I tried it out in the store (Shhh! Don't tell anyone) and I liked it.  It felt comfortable and I felt pretty sure that I'd like it on my face.

WRONG AGAIN!

I got home and tried it out on my face the next day and hated it. The gel felt fine on my arm but felt thick and sticky on my face. And it seemed to keep my face powder from sticking to my face. I'd put on powder and then by the time I got to the car, it looked like my face was flaking off. I tried again one evening and about 10 minutes later -- face flake off.

So it seems that Simple moisturizing products don't agree with me. You'd think that they would but they simply don't. It's just that simple.

Sorry. I couldn't resist.
