Chlorine and Nivea Soft Moisturizing Creme

Hey there!

The weather has been so nice that the kiddo and I have been living in the pool. We've been in the pool, next to the pool, looking at the pool, dreaming of the pool...you get the picture. Since we've been in the chlorinated water so much, I've noticed that my skin isn't 100% happy.

When I step out of the water, the kiddo and I immediately take a bath and get the chlorine off of our skin. Right after hopping out of the tub, we gotta moisturize. I could reach into my bag'o essential oils and pull out some coconut oil or jojoba oil but I have an old standby already prepared. You know what I've begun pulling back out? My Nivea Soft Moisturizing Creme.

I normally only pull that out during the winter months but with the chlorinated water on my skin twice a week or so, I need to make sure my body is super moisturized. This stuff does the trick. Normally I can get away with my favorite lotion, Jergens original scent. But this summer, no. I have to give a bit extra.

My original purpose for the Nivea Soft Moisturizing Creme was as a face cream for the winter. In the winter I have to boost my face moisture. This stuff, however, was a bit too much for my face. The container says it's for face - body - hands. It wasn't for my face but it is certainly for my body and hands.

The Nivea website says I should partner my Nivea Soft Moisturizing Creme with one of the Creme Moisture Moisturizing Body Washes. I actually have a few of those so next time I'll try washing with the Moisturizing Body Wash and then slathering on the Nivea Soft Moisturizing Creme. Sometimes working within a brand set helps out.

I've also noticed that quite a few people are talking about body gels for moisturizing. I haven't tried moisturizing gels yet. It just seems so wet. They claim not to leave a greasy residue but I don't know.

For now, I will just stick with my Nivea Soft Moisturizing Creme. It has worked well so why change it up?

Summer Night Time Routine

Hey There!

Last night, before I could drift off to lala land, there were just a few things that I had to make sure were in place. I had to make sure that I took care of my nightly beauty routine so that I'd be fresh as a daisy the next morning. I don't overdo it at night. I just do a few things before bed.

First and foremost, I wash my face. I use my face wipes and then a cleanser, just to make sure everything comes off. Most of the time I have a simple makeup routine and the basic wipes work. But, you just want to make sure your face is clean and free from residue.

It's hot outside so I have officially changed over to my summer time, lighter moisturizer. I'm currently using Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture for Sensitive skin. It's light and keeps my skin moisturized day and night. In the winter I go a bit heavier at night but now, I can tone the moisture down a little bit.

I'm still using my Caudalíe Eau De Beautie spray. I know it's expensive and I know that no one is 100% sure what magical fantastic-ness that it really does but I love it. It makes my skin feel good and it smells great and when I spritz it on, I know that it's time for bed. It's a mental thing just as much as a physical thing.

Next, I really am trying to be better about slathering on the lotion. If nothing else, I make sure that my feet and hands get moisturized. I'm currently loving (ok in love with) my H2O Targeted Care Softening Mint Foot Rub and my Jergens Original Scent Dry Skin Moisturizer. Tried and true products that haven't steered me wrong yet!

And you have to get your smooth, soft, sexy lips in order! I have an array of night time lippie moisture sticks that I can use but these 4 are my current loves. Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue in Just Peachy is really nice. But, after wearing it for a few weeks, I have to switch it up. Aquaphor is my jam! I will always have 17 tubes of this lying around the house. It is good for everything including lips!  I purchased the Rimmel London Keep Calm and Love lip balm a while ago. I'm really just trying to use it up. It doesn't bring much of anything to the party. And, the Softlips Sugar Plum Berry has been in my drawer for so long that any day now it's going to expire and end up in my big green tub of empties.

And that's what I do before diving in between my sheets. Many other things I've tried to add to the mix just don't make the cut but these steps are must dos. I always make sure to do these things or it's just not a good night.

And, I keep a big thing of water by the bed. You never know when you'll get thirsty!

No Buy - Body Lotion

Hey There!

This. Is. Ridiculous! In the unpacking process, I pulled out 22 tubes of hand lotion. And no, that doesn't include the full size bottles of Jergens and Suave lotions that I keep in the bathroom and next to the bed (5).

Twenty Two!!

I'm too lazy to even use lotion half of the durn time! You heard me! It almost pains me to reach over and slather lotion all over my body. If this is the case, how on earth do you end up with 22 of them? 22 + 5? Well, I have won the prize and amassed at least 27 lotions that I don't use most of the time.

How did this happen? Well, so glad you thought to ask that question. The first bottles of Suave lotion were coupon finds (because before that the kiddo and I shared a bottle or two of lotion). I ended up with 4 or 5 bottles of it. Then I sniffed Jergens and decided I liked that much better and ended up with 4 or 5 bottles of that.

From there I decided that I needed purse sized lotions. And, well, it's hard to find the perfect sized purse lotion! They might be too big or too small or the lid might open. It was a delicate process.

And then, you'd come upon a great smelling lotion and you had to get it. Or, someone would recommend a lotion and you had to try it. Or, you'd get one in a beauty box or hotel room. You get the picture.

Most of them are smaller purse lotions. I got some of them from the Dollar Tree (Stunner & Too Much). They were watery and smell really strong. I got a small one from Ulta (OPI Avojuice in Ginger Lily) and one from a hotel that I stayed in (True Blue Spa, Grin & Bare It). I definitely have to use those up. All those tiny ones have got to go!

I have big ones, mainly from Bath & Body Works. I am currently hoarding Energy Orange Ginger Body Cream, Napa Autumn Blackberry Body Cream and Velvet Sugar Body Cream. And no, that doesn't include the two, 2 oz containers of Black Cherry Merlot and Pink Chiffon.

Besides my three Jergens lotions and my Suave lotion, the rest of them are random drugstore, beauty box and end cap lotion finds. Not that it matters. It's still 27 lotions that I shouldn't have had. I should have had, what -- maybe 6 or 7 at the most? Maybe 9.

So what's my plan? Well, I'm going to slather my body in hydrating goodness from now on. I'm going to make sure that I take the time to use some of these delightful treats that I've left to go rancid.

And I'm not going to buy any more until I've used these up.

Yep, you heard me! I'm on a lotion no buy until I have used TEN of these up. After that, when I use three minis, I can purchase 1 mini. If I use three large sizes, I can buy 1 large size. But, I will not purchase ANY more until 10 of these bad boys are done.

Because this is insane.

Hand Lotions In My Purse

I keep my titles fancy, don't I?

I always have a hand lotion in my purse. So, it's really no surprise that I have a slew of hand creams, lotions and potions to choose from. Currently, there are only drugstore lotions in my purse. I keep my higher end items on my dresser.

I like to have refillable containers for the obvious reason. The only drawback is sometimes the residual scent mixes with the new fragrance and it isn't always pretty. That doesn't happen too often though.

Right now I'm going between 3 selections -- Jergens Original Scent Cherry-Almond Moisturizer, Bath & Body Works Pink Chiffon Nourishing Hand Cream and Suave Skin Solutions Soothing with Cocoa Butter and Shea. I have more, I just have been rotating between these three.

I like Bath and Bodyworks hand and body creams. They are rich and creamy and feel so luxurious. They are wonderful after a bath or shower. They keep you moisturized and smelling great for hours. That being said, they aren't the best for purse lotions. They are too oily to slather on and then do things. You'll have oily papers or an oily desk or keyboard if you do that. I realize B&BW have lotions that I could use instead of hand cream but I find their lotions are too runny. I know, I know. Some people are never satisfied.

I got my Suave Lotion with Cocoa Butter in one of the sample boxes that I receive every now and then. I can't remember which one (horrible, yes but it was last year! My mind is bad people). I really liked this! It's rich and creamy and absorbs quickly and lasts through a hand wash or two. That shouldn't come as a surprise though. I have mentioned my love for Suave lotions before. While I like this lotion, I'm not a fan of the container because it's not a good refillable one. You can refill it but it's kinda difficult.

And the lotion that is my purse's favorite? Jergens. If I could only pick one lotion and wear that forever, it would be my Jergens. I love the Cherry-Almond scent. And, you cannot replace it with a store brand. I've purchased the CVS brand and the Walgreens brand and they both have a sickeningly sweet scent that isn't the same as the Jergens Cherry-Almond. Jergens has the perfect creaminess and absorbs quickly. It lasts through two vigorous hand washes (yes, I know this for a fact). You don't need a lot to moisturize your hands and the container is perfect for refills.

I'm not picky (LOL - did you roar with laughter too?) but I like what I like in lotions hand creams. I'm ok with experimenting but any hand cream willing to try for the coveted slot in my purse has big shoes to fill! But, I'm open minded.

As long as you are as good as my Jergens.
