Quickie Review - Face Secrets Professional Terry Adjustable Headband

Hey There!

I'm deviating a slight bit from makeup. I've been testing out a few things that aren't makeup and I wanted to let you folks know what I thought. Even though today's item is not makeup, it helps in makeup application and removal.

I've been trying the Face Secrets Professional Terry Adjustable Headband for a while now and I must say, minus the fuzz, I like it. I think everyone knows what a headband is used for but just in case...

The Face Secrets headband is used to tie your hair back with cleansing your face or applying your makeup. I use mine at night when I am deep cleaning my face. I have random hairs that like to jump out and get wet and my hair doesn't bounce back when it gets wet.

It's machine washable, secures with a large velcro closure that adjusts to any size and is a very soft poly/cotton blend. The down side is that it is white so it gets dirty quickly and even though it adjusts to any size, I must have a super large head because it is just a tiny bit tight.

The original price was $5.99 but I believe Sally's discontinued this brand and I got it for $2.99. So, even though I like it, I can't get another one. I suppose that's ok because I'm sure Sally's will replace it with something similar.

And, I can't imagine that it won't be just as good.

Nail Polish Change - Tools of the Trade

Wow! Who did the staging on this photo? Me, oh, nevermind.

Hey There!

I didn't change my nail polish this week. It wasn't that the last nail polish was super fabulous or anything -- I just didn't get a chance to. So, I walked around with chipped nails for several days. Then I took the polish off and moisturized my nails and cuticles for the rest of the time.

So, this week, you get to see what products I used. Actually, they are the products that I use every week.

I take my nail polish off with remover (well, duh!). Most of the time it is whatever remover was on sale. That's not what I'm showing you here. I'm showing you the bottle that I use. I originally picked up the nail polish remover at Family Dollar. I picked it up because of the bottle. It's one of those fancy ones that you push on the top with your cotton ball or cotton square or piece of tissue, and the remover comes up through a tube. The first time I saw it, I thought it was just the gimmick I needed.

I've mentioned my Sally Hansen Insta-dri top coat a million and seven times. It makes your polish dry super fast and gives them a pretty sheen. I won't use anything else now.

I love my Aveda foot relief. Every morning and every night, I slather this stuff on. It's quite pricey but it works wonders and I can tell when I haven't used it. So can everyone else.

I've been quite fond of my Ped Egg for the last month or so. It really does work. I wasn't expecting it to, to be honest. But, it works like magic on my heels and I've fallen in love with it.

Sally Beauty Supply has the best nail extras. I go there about two or three times a month. I like the Beauty Secrets nail file line. They have different grits for different filing purposes. I always have a medium 180 grit on hand. I also like the orange sticks. I don't use them to push back cuticles. I use them to wipe away stray polish when I'm doing my mani/pedicures. I color outside the lines and these help.

I've built up my nail polish routine over the past 2 years. Before that, I hardly ever painted my finger nails. I only painted my toe nails during the summer and even then, I used the same 4 or 5 colors. My have times changed!

Next week you'll be in for a treat (I think). I am trying something a bit new (and a bit old). It may be a blessing or a disaster.

Stay tuned!

Sally Beauty Supply Haul - China Glaze & Finger Paints

A few weekends ago Sally Beauty Supply had a deep discount on their already discounted nail polishes. Right near the front door, my Sally Beauty had a table of China Glaze colors and Finger Paints colors. I don't really need nail polish but who waits until they need makeup and polish to buy them, right? Oh, there are people like that? Sorry, not me.

If you have been sleeping on Sally Beauty Supply for polish and makeup, you need to wake up. They have some top shelf polish. They also have all the accoutrements that you need for nail care, hand care, feet care as well as hair care. I find myself in there at least twice a month and I come out with some great deals and some wonderful new finds. If you join their beauty club, you get discounts. If you aren't interested in their beauty club, just checkout their discount tables and you'll still get great deals.

Anywho, I picked up 8 polishes and only paid about $12 total. I have a fair amount of China Glaze in my collection and only a few Finger Paints but I can tell you that all of the China Glaze & Finger Paints that I have, were purchased when they were heavily discounted. I kinda do that with nail polish. It's very rare that I buy it without some sort of discount.

So I picked up Howl You Doing, Be Merry Be Bright, Bells Will Be Blinging, Glitz n Pieces, Elfin' Around & Vertical Rush from China Glaze and A Heart For Art and Be A Pal-ette from Finger Paints. I haven't had a chance to use them yet so I swatched them on my wheel for you.

The glitters all look exciting to me except Howl You Doing. I'm not sure about that one. It looks like a matte purple. It may take me a while to try that one. The others are ready to be party nails!

The other two China Glaze and the two Finger Paint colors are pearlescent colors and they all look so delightful! I cannot wait to wear these.

Do you catch the Sally Beauty sale? Do you have China Glaze and Finger Paints in your collection?
