Lippie Love - Dynamic Duos

Photocredit: internet clip art

Hey there!

I have been loving the sheerness and the airiness of the summer. I've been wearing light clothing, using lighter nail polishes and going with simpler hair styles. This summer has just been very chill for me and my lippie dynamic duos have followed suit.

I've been going to the same lippie duos almost every day. It's easy to do this when you love the lipsticks and glosses.

When I want a little bit of color, I go with Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Lollipop and Black Opal ColorSplurge in Mahvelous. They are a smooth, lollipop pink duo. They are shimmery lippies that bring a bit of strawberry pink lips to the party.

Maybelline Matte lipstick in Lust for Blush has been partying with NYC Liquid Lipshine in Rivington Rose for a beautiful pink nude lip. It's so practical, so classic nude. I really can't get enough of this combo. These two can mix and match with other colors but they always come back home to each other.

Oh, I have been absolutely in love with my Rimmel London Kate Moss Collection lippie in 08 and my Buxom Full On Lip Cream in Dolly. Let's just give it a minute people. Go back and look at that deliciousness! I fell in love with Buxom's Dolly when I saw it. There is a formula with more sparkle than this one but this lip cream took my breath away. I knew when I swatched it in Sephora it had to come home with me. And the Rimmel London 08 color? What do you want me to say? It's perfect. If you are looking for a Dynamic Duo, this is it!

These three pairings have stayed in my bathroom. I haven't really reached for anything else. I haven't really tried anything else. I had to go ahead and wrap up this post so that I could allow myself to put these away and try other lippies! That's just how dynamic these lippies have been!

What have you been wearing this summer? We only have 1 more good month left. What's on your lips?

Lippie Love - Dynamic Duos Featuring Revlon Lip Butters

Hey there!

Spring has sprung and it's time for soft lips. Well, it's always time for soft lips. What I mean is, it's time for soft lip colors.

I have almost the entire range of Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters because they are fantastic lipsticks. No, they aren't super de duper long lasting, but they are moisturizing and they don't need a pre-balm on the lips. They are sheer to just the sheer side of opaque and wear comfortably. I like to pair them with a more opaque lip gloss to complete the look. That being said, let me share with you the dynamic lip duo I've been wearing and the dynamic lip duo I plan on wearing this month.

I like to pre-pull makeup for the week. I saw someone do this on a YouTube video several months ago and having being doing the same thing ever since. I like the idea of having your face products ready. No need to fumble for new colors just mix and match what you've already pulled.

This past month I have been loving my orange and peachy colored tops so that meant I had to keep the coral lips at the ready. To accomplish that, I used my Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Peach Parfait and my Revlon Colorburst Lip Gloss in Strawberry Fraise. Two different colors, right? Well yes, but their pair together so well. I can thin out the Strawberry Fraise for my more coral tops and if I want to bust out a pink top, go a bit heavier. It's a win-win situation!

Next month I am going to add my power couple to the rotation. Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie (which would totally work with Strawberry Fraise) and pair it with my NYX Butter Gloss in Strawberry Parfait (does everything in my world revolve around food?!). They are a soft but mighty duo. They aren't too pinky (which washes me out) and the NYX can sheer it out and make it more opaque depending on what I want to end up with.

I have plenty of other color combos -- I mean I do have just that many Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters and I can't remember how many lip glosses (oh that's right - 70 - remember the organizing post?) so the options are endless. Well no, they do have an ending. I just never have any plans to find out.

What I do plan on finding out is how many spring and summer combos I can put together. If you follow me on Instagram, I'll #DynamicDuos.

What are your #DynamicDuos for the spring and summer?

Quickie Review - L'Oreal Colour Riche Balm

Hey there!

I have two L'Oreal Colour Riche Balms from my last CVS haul. L'Oreal products were BOGO 1/2 off so I thought I'd pick up 2 colors. You know how much I love my lip glosses and lip butters. I own several Revlon lip butters and Maybelline whispers. I thought if I was going to call myself a lip gloss connoisseur I'd better check these out too! I picked up 219 Plush Plum and 819 Caramel Comfort.

First, the colors were a bit deceiving. Plush Plum appeared to be a darker, plummy brown color (don't you love my color descriptions?!) and Caramel Comfort appeared to be a soft latte color. The Caramel Comfort ended up being frosty, milky latte color and the Plush Plum, when built up, is a pale berry color. The Caramel Comfort was fine when I used a brown lip liner underneath. It reflected a very pretty color then. The Plush Plum was fine on its own, just pale.

They claim to have 8 hours hydration, precious nourishing oils and sheer coverage (according to their website - lorealparisusa.com). They get a check mark on the sheer coverage front. They are sheer but kinda buildable. They also get a check mark for nourishing during the time they were on my lips. They felt moist and reapplication went smoothly. My lips felt really good that night. Sometimes lipsticks can make them feel dry and in need of a special balm at night. No need for balm after these.

8 hours of hydration? I understand that hydration is not the same thing as lasting lip color so I wasn't expecting 8 hours of color. I did get 2 or 3 hours of color and perhaps they keep on hydrating beneath the surface.  But I've had longer lasting balms before. I cannot say that my lips would have felt hydrated until lunch time. I did have to reapply before lunch, after lunch (but that's a given really) and before heading home from work.

I have other lip butters and I have to say that these are at the bottom of the list. The color payoff, even for a balm or butter, wasn't great. They also didn't last very long. I can hear some folks saying, "Yeah, but it's a lip butter." That's correct but even lip butter should be truer to color and last a bit longer, especially if you say 8 hours hydration. I can't say that these are bad balms, because they're not. They are moist and they do provide some color. They just aren't the ones I'll reach for first.

Will I purchase them again? Well, if they come out with new colors, it's my duty to try them! Will I pay full price? Oh hecky, darn no! Will I recommend them? Well, kinda...

...but I'd probably recommend something else first.
