Birth Day Off

With your permission, I'd like to take the day off. Why? Because it's my birthday!

I thought about "putting one in the can" and having a review of something else that I love but I decided that I'd publish a little early ( a lot early), take the day off, go shopping and then have a nice birthday haul! Yes ma'ams (and maybe sirs) I got some shopping plans! I have some coupons and some discount codes and I've been saving some dough!

But before I take the evening off, I did want to say thank you to the folks that take a peek at my little blog each day. I really do enjoy having a forum to talk about how I feel about different makeup products. I love playing in makeup just as much as you do. You should talk about what you think of different products too! The comment button works --  you can use it! I won't bite! Let's talk about it!

So yes, folks. As this goes live on 4-16-2014, this lady is off shopping or eating with family or getting a mani/pedi or something! I'll Instagram the day so you can stay in the loop. Tell me about your day too!

I can tell you one thing though; it will be a wonderful day! I just know it. For me and for you too!

Have a good day folks and if it's your birthday, have a great birthday! Eat lots of cake and drink a glass of wine too (you know, if you're old enough)!

Brush Up On It!!

I'm not big on sets -- not sets of anything really. I like buying things piece by piece and just getting what I want or need. Makeup brushes are no exception.

Normally when I look at brush sets I only need half of the brushes listed. Sometimes I need even less than that. So, most of the time, I just get only what I need. That's a good motto for everything, huh?!

So I've heard good things about the e.l.f. Small Stipple Brush. It's a $3 brush that I picked up at Target. Many people have said how great it is for blush. Many people would be right! I've used this for my blush since the day I got it. I probably need to get another one as a backup when I wash my brushes. Most of my blushes work very well with this one, including my Maybelline Face Studio™ Master Glaze™ Glisten Blush Stick. It doesn't work well with the blushes that you have to swirl a brush into and mix the colors but everything else is good.

While at Target, I picked  up a 2 eye brushes. One is a large shader brush and the other is a small shader brush. They are both soft enough to sweep daintily across my eyes but firm enough to pack on the right amount of product. I don't think I paid much more than $5 for the pair but boy was it a good investment!

The best eye brush purchase this month was my Cala brand #313 eyeshadow brush. I found this one at the beauty supply store for $3. Wow! This one is amazing. It's softer than the Target pair but just as firm. The handle is a tad bit longer than the Target pair too -- the perfect length for great control. This brush puts on product very well and washes so well.

I got lucky this past month. All 4 of my brush purchases were spot on.

Next month I will look at powder brushes. Do you have any good, inexpensive choices?

Nail Polish Change - Wet n Wild Megalast Salon Nail Color in Bite The Bullet & Sophisticated Lady

I know. I said I was going to use spring colors on my nails. This isn't really a springy color. My initial thought was to use Sophisticated Lady on all my nails and then Bite The Bullet as my accent nail. Once I did my left hand, I changed my mind and reversed that decision.

And, whoa baby! I really like Bite The Bullet. While it isn't a light lilac, it certainly is a pretty purple. I got sooo many complements on this color. I kept complementing my own darn self!!

I've said many times that I love the new Wet n Wild tapered brush. If not used carefully, you can paint your entire finger but I take my time and do the best I can. As you can see, I've promoted to a 3rd grader in nail polishing! It's a work in progress people.

The color stayed on a loooong time! I had some chip tip but that's to be expected. I didn't have any major chipping at all! I was so pleased with this color and formula. I honestly debated wearing it again this week!

But, it's birthday week. I needed something a bit pinker. Yep, that's a spoiler alert!
