Quickie Review - EOS Shave Cream

Hey there!

Several weeks ago I picked up an EOS (Evolution of Smooth) shave cream from Target. I picked it up from "The Dollar Spot" section. The EOS Shave Cream in pomegranate raspberry bottle claims "24 hours of deep moisture...helps prevent nicks and cuts". It also claims that it's so moisturizing you can shave wet or dry

I don't care a whole lot about which shaving cream I use. It gets the job done. Smells are nice, different moisture products (aloe or shea butter, etc.) are nice but honestly, for the 2 seconds it's under my arm pit (TMI I know) I don't really care. I just wanna shave and go. This product is fine for that. It's smooth, it smells good, it's not too thick so it goes on well. It doesn't clog up my razor and doesn't discolor my towels.

After saying all that, I don't like the bottle for this. It's a squeeze bottle and I just don't feel like I can get everything out. Normally when I buy a shaving cream, I buy one of those big cans of foaming stuff and I use it FOR-EVA. I toss it when the I get sick of the scent, acquire a new can or just get tired of what's inside. My rationale for purchasing this one was I thought that because it was a small bottle I'd use the entire thing before it went bad or I got sick of it. The truth is that I will have to take the cap off of it in order to get the second half of the bottle contents out.

I think this was $.97 at Target. I will make sure I get my $.97 worth out of it but I probably won't buy it again. If it comes in can form, I just might.

Have you tried this? Do you have a preference for shaving cream?

Sephora Luster Long-Wear Lip Color

I know that the color is off here.

Sephora products are very hit or miss for me. Some things are great and some things aren't so great. I'm glad that the lovely ladies (and gentlemen) in Sephora let me play with things before I buy them.

A few weeks ago I played with (and then purchased) the Sephora Luster Matte Long-Wear Lip Color in Fig. Sephora.com says there are 12 "New!" colors. I fell in "like" with 3 of them -- Fig, Nude Pink and Petal. My first thought was to bring them all home but then I decided that I'd better try one before buying them all.

And now I gotta go back to Sephora and get the rest!!

This is closer to the color. On the lips it is gorge!

These little lovelies are $16 worth of lip goodness. I wasn't sure that I'd like them because the applicator reminded me of the Revlon Color Stay Moisture Stains that I just talked ugly about a few days ago.  When I tried this on in the store, it did go on matte, and I did feel like I needed a gloss on top (just a swipe, not a glob) but I really liked the color! The formula is nice, the color is beautiful (a strawberry milk chocolate color - yeah, I know) and it stayed on my lips for quite a long time (several hours I believe). I was very surprised.

It does have a bit of a plastic smell but I made sure to use my lip glosses that have a vanilla or sugary smell to mask that. And, as I said, they are a tad bit dry but the gloss takes care of that. They are more expensive than the Revlon Color Stays (double the price) but I only had to use a bit of color for my lips so I feel that this tube will last longer than Revlon would.

As I mentioned, I did go to Sephora.com to locate the price and the number of colors and then I read the reviews. Interestingly enough, they weren't all that favorable. I have to admit I find that odd and had I read the reviews first I would never have even tried these lippies.

Aren't you glad that I tried and then read? Yeah, me too.

Keep looking at my Instagram because I'm sure you'll see more Sephora Lusters soon!

Brush Up On It - The Masters Artist Soap

I don't know anyone that likes to clean their makeup brushes. That's why you see sooo many YouTube videos with folks showing you how THEY wash THEIR brushes and why YOU should try it too. And, yes, I've tried many of those ways. So far, I haven't come up with a perfect way or at the very least, a better way than I have been doing it.

I've mentioned that every time I went to Michaels or Hobby Lobby to purchase The Masters Brush Cleaner all I could find was The Masters  Artist Soap. I decided  that there probably wasn't a huge difference between the two so I would try it. I can't comment on differences but I can say I liked it just fine.

I put the soap in a travel dish that I found for $.97 at Wal-Mart. I find that it works very well for me. I wet my brushes, swipe them over the soap, clean them and them after I'm finished washing all of the brushes, I take the soap out of the dish and let it dry overnight.

Now that I've discussed technique, let's talk about how well it works. I would give it a slight edge over the Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap and the olive oil/Dawn dish liquid mix that I made (I found it on YouTube). I always use my foundation kabuki brushes and my concealer brushes as the test of cleansers. Those are my toughest brushes. I normally use them on my face for 3 or 4 days then put them in the box for washing. I'm thinking about getting a few more of each brush so I can use them for 2 days and then wash them every other week instead.

With Dr. Bronners Magic Soap and the olive oil/Dawn it takes about 4 or 5 passes to get all residue off. I don't know if that is excessive or not. If I choose to use my Purity Cleanser, I can get away with 3 passes. With The Masters Brush Cleaner I only needed 3 passes with the kabuki brushes and 4 passes with the concealer brushes.

So yes, that is a plus. Yes, I would buy this again BUT I'd like to try to the brush cleaner that I originally wanted to try so I'll keep on the hunt so that I can report the difference.
