Tag: What’s My Face Worth - Revisit March 2015

Hey there!

I was looking back through my blog posts (about a year back) and I came across the What's My Face Worth tag. I read the post and almost laughed. The post said my face was worth $173.49. So you know what I did? Yep! I pulled out what I wore today and re-wrote the post!

My life has changed so much. In the first paragraph of primers and such I spent $98. Wanna know what I primed with this morning? I did use the same Bare Minerals Concealer ($20, and not the SAME one. This is a new one) but I didn't use eye stuff at all. I used my Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer ($18) and instead of foundation, my MAC Studio Fix Powder ($27). So my face prep was only $65 this morning.

Yes, I still take a sip of coffee and pick out a pair of earrings and then put on...Maybelline Baby Lips in Beam of Blush ($3.49). Maybelline Baby Lips is the best brand of lip moisturizer for underneath lipstick, hands down.

My bronzer back then is almost the same price! This morning I wore e.l.f. Mineral Glow in bronzed ($8). And the blush I'm wearing this week? Boots No.7 Natural Blush Tint Powder in Spice ($9.99). So my bronzing and blushing are still about the same.

I normally do wear brow stuff. But, I freshly shaped my brows this morning so I didn't put anything on them. And I've mentioned my Blepharitis before so for the most part, I avoid eye makeup. I know the post says I go gently into eye makeup but after months of trying to dance around it, I gave up. I occasionally wear powdered eyeliner but more often than not, nothing, and that works for me.

I did use a Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Pencil ($6.29) but I'm road testing an Essence lippie ($2.99). No gloss today because of that.

And that is my new perfection.

I know, it's a lot less makeup. Wonder why? Sleep. I chose sleep and that means I can't do quite as much makeup in the morning. And, no one has spit or laugh at me so it must be ok. I think I still look pretty good.

Oh yeah! I have tried many new makeup products over the last year. Some of them were high end. Some of them were super inexpensive. I've done quite a bit of research. I was pretty darn sure that my face would cost quite a bit now.

Today my face was worth $95.76. That's almost half of what I use to spend. Now, now, don't go all crazy. That was just today. Had I pulled out my highlighter from yesterday, it would have added $24. Had I chosen the face powder from yesterday, I'd have spent $3.99 instead of $27. It just varies.

I still found the whole process fascinating. I think maybe in 6 months or so I'll try it again and see what the total is. Won't that be fun?

So should my goal be use expensive stuff everyday or cheapy cheap stuff every day?

Nah, I think it should be use what you love every day!

You Make Me Blush! Boots No 7 in Spice

Hey there!!

I've owned my Boots No. 7 blush in Spice for several months (got it during a Target smack down sale) and quite frankly, I had forgotten about it. It wasn't bad or anything but I had other blushes to try. So, it went in the blush drawer and stayed there until a few weeks ago.

I was looking for something deeper for my cheeks. I was going to a night event and I wanted my cheeks to stand out a little bit. I knew that my No. 7 Spice was a buildable color so I popped it on.

I got compliments all night.

Everyone told me how nice my makeup looked and how beautiful my skin was. The only difference in what I normally wore was my blush. So, I wore it the next day to work.

Same story.

I got compliments on top of compliments. So I kept wearing it...for 7 days straight! And I loved it! It's smooth, goes on like a dream (be careful -- a little bit is enough) and lasts for several hours. If applied with a light hand, it looks like a fresh faced touch of color (for a woman with around NC42 skin). If you go with a heavier hand you can wear it for a night out on the town. It's beautiful.

And the packaging is cute, in my opinion. Some folks might call it cheap looking but I like it! It's sleek and looks rich to me. It's a piece that when you pull it out for a touch up, you wave it around so people can see it. And if folks don't know what The Boots Company is, they may think its frou-frou-er than it is. Remember, full price is about $10 for this blush. You aren't going to find a coupon or a half off BOGO either. You either pay $10 or you do like I did and catch it on during a discontinued sale for $3.

Now that I have played with my $3 spice color, I'd actually pay full price for other colors. Yeah, I know! That's so unlike me.

But this is a great blush.

It's A Haul Y'all!

I've been shopping!! I know, what's new? I had some drugstore cash and some really good coupons. I decided I needed to add to my makeup collection. It was getting low.

LOL! That was funny. Anyway, I needed to run into Target, Rite Aid and Wal-Mart and while I was there, well, I picked up one or two things.

At Target I picked up another eos lip balm in pomegranate raspberry. I have the watermelon wonderland one and in order to make a good assessment, I felt I needed two. Now that I have two, an EOS review is coming soon! I also picked up a Boots No. 7 Natural Blush Tint Powder in Spice. I hope that it's as good as my Sonia Kashuk blush in spice. At the full $9.99 price I never even looked at it but for $2.98, I'll try it out.

Because I had coupons I picked up some Rimmel London products. I got 60 seconds nail polish in Golden Hour, and Stay Glossy Last & Shine Lipgloss in All Night Long and Fuchsia Fever. The nail polish looks so pretty. I can't wait to paint my tootsies with it and I've already tested those lip glosses. Spoiler alert - they are delightful!!

I've been planning some face primer testing. So, I used my free Rite Aid money in conjunction with a NYC Buy One, Get One Free promotion to get the NYC Smooth Skin Perfecting Primer in clear. My free item was NYC Smooth Skin Bronzing Face Powder in Sunny. I figured if everyone else had it, I should have it too. I also purchased the NYC Show Time Volumizing Mascara cause, well, you know what March is! As my free item, I picked up NYC In a New York Minute Sparkle Top Coat in Big City Dazzle because it looked so pretty in the bottle. I can't resist a pretty nail polish. That's why my collection is so...well, never mind. We don't have the kind of time today.

I also purchased an Almay One Coat Get Up & Grow mascara. I've heard good things about this and because it was 40% off and I had $1.00 off coupon, I thought this would be a good time to try it.

I only purchased one thing at Wal-Mart. I needed (wanted) some eyeshadow brushes so I thought I'd give the Soho 6 Piece Color Expression Eye Set a chance. I've been touching the bristles since I got home. They feel pretty soft. I feel pretty good about them!

And then I came home. I figured I had sent enough money and I had a lot of toys to play with now!

But we all know tomorrow is another day!
