Sunday Fun Day - Sinful Colors Valentine's Day Flirt with Hearts

Hey There!

I have been running around in circles trying to find the Sinful Colors Valentine's Day Flirt with Hearts polishes. have searched several Walgreens trying to find it. I know that there is a whole Valentine's Day display with several colors but I really want the Love Sprinkles one, which is (from what I've heard) the only new one in the bunch.

Before I began my journey, I took out all of the pinky, valentiney colors that I had in my Sinful colors collection.

Nine. Yes. I have nine pinky, valentiney colors in my Sinful Colors collection. In my defense, I love painting the tootsies pink. Shades of pink just make my toes happy and at .99 cents - $1.99 each, you can't pass them up! I know I certainly didn't.

Glass Pink is a very delicate pink. It's soft and feminine and pretty.

Your's Truely is pretty pastel pink. It's nice but I don't reach for it that much.

Pinky Glitter reminds me of a jelly polish. I'm not versed in polish enough to know if it really is a jelly, but it reminds me of one. It looks slightly orange in the bottle but I assure you it's not. I call it a Cinderella pink because when built up (2-3 coats) it's sparkly.

24/7 is my pepto-bismol pink. It's your classic Barbie doll pink. It's great against tan toes.

Pink Forever is like a not so pepto pink. It's still bright, but not as bright as 24/7. It still looks good against tan toes though.

Boom Boom is a bright fuchsia pink polish. It's a winter pink.

Forget Now is a gorgeous, shimmery fuchsia. It is a perfect color for toes or fingers. 2 regular coats are a nice and sheer. That 3rd coat is the ka-pow! that you need for your nails.

Tokyo Doll is a pearlescent fuchsia pink. This is a perfect pink for toes or fingers as well.

Ruby Mine is one the best sparkly pinks. It's a textured pink (and I don't normally like them) but with a top coat, it's makes it better. It reminds me of candy and I like to use it as an accent nail.

So before I began my quest, I took stock of what I had so I wouldn't duplicate any efforts. I also did a mental check to make sure I wanted to keep all of the pinky colors that I had. I do.

Oh! I did find that Love Sprinkles polish...waaaay back on a bottom shelf at a Walgreens 20 miles from my house.

Go figure.

It's A Haul Y'all! - Teeny Tiny Nail Polish Haul

Hey there!!

This is just a teeny tiny haul this time. I went to Target and Walgreens and they had nail polish on sale. I, of course, don't need any new polish but these colors were really too cute to pass up.

Walgreens had some holiday Sinful Colors polishes on sale. I picked up these really pretty, sparkle toppers in Gilded and Holiday Rebel. I've already worn one of them and already have an opinion. You have to wait until Monday to see which one and if I liked it or not.

I also picked up 4 of the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri polishes in Plummet, Navy Fleet, Slick Slade and Expresso. Plummet is a nice, deep dark plum and Navy Fleet is a hunter green (not navy at all...hmmmm). Slick Slate is a muddy, gray brown, dirty cement color and Expresso is a gorgeous pinky mocha color. I love those colors. They are creamy warm colors, perfect for winter. I am soooo going to enjoy them.

So that was just a little quick polish haul. I can't wait to try out these new colors. I may have to change out every 4 days to get everything in!

Nail Polish Change - Nailene Nail Studio Medium Nails & Sinful Colors in Thimbleberry

Hey There!

I'm still wearing and liking my Nailene Nail Studio nails in medium. The nails I've been wearing have a pretty "leaf?" design. They have lasted very well (only 3 popped off and I had to glue them back on). Overall though, I think I can get another week of them. I'm very happy with this purchase.

While I didn't paint my finger nails this week, I did paint my toe nails. I pulled out my Sinful Colors polishes and decided that I wanted to try Thimbleberry. It was a pretty orangey melon color that I felt was perfect for summer.

And it is so pretty on my feet. I have a touch of a tan which makes this color pop. I might even be able to get away with it as a fall color. But, while the color was nice, the formula kinda sucked. It was thick and streaky. I wonder if this was just an old bottle, even though I've only owned it for 3 or 4 months. I'll chalk it up to that because other Sinful polishes have been very nice.

The polish has the regular brush (I liked tapered if you're new here. If you aren't, sorry to repeat myself so much). The cap is nice though. It isn't smooth, it's a little bit textured and that means I can hold it and maneuver it well. I like that design in a bottle top!

Over all, I plan on trying this color out again. I do like it, even if this particular bottle has issues.

TARDIS Blue Nails

Hey There!

I have quite the geeky side and a major reason for that side is because I am a HUGE Doctor Who fan. I mean I am a BIG, BIG, BIG Doctor Who fan. For instance, last weekend was the series opener and I DARED anyone to call me, text me, or even look at me for the approximately 2 hours it was on.

And people respected my wish.

That tells you that they understand my obsession or they understand my crazy and have no desire to deal with it. Either way, no one called, texted or looked at me from 8 p.m. - 10 p.m. ET. And I watched The Doctor.

And I did so with blue toe nails.

If you have no idea why I would do this, take a minute and read what Tardis Blue is. Or, if you just don't have the time, TARDIS is what The Doctor travels in (think spaceship, in the form of an English police box). There is a whole world of Whovians (people that are BIG Doctor Who fans) that will have toe nails and finger nails painted for the show. I just happen to be one of them.

Orly's Macabre Masquerade & Sinful Colors Break Away

I have several blue nail polishes but a few weeks ago I had to weed out the ones that weren't the perfect shade of pantone 2955C (TARDIS blue). Unfortunately, I don't own polish that is that shade, but I came close enough (in my mind). Here are the losers (put such pretty blues) and the winner (made prettier by the fact that it's the closest and I think other Whovians would approve).

First, let me have a geeky moment and say, many of the tardis blue polishes aren't fantastical or anything. They are simply pantone 2955c blue. BUT, polishes that fall into Who fanfare are sparkly and dazzling and have sparkles and shapes in them and that makes them "tardis blue-like" -- which in many parts of Who-world, makes them ok.

Ok, back from that. Any who (LOL - I'm a laughing my butt off at that joke) here's what I had to choose from.

Orly's Macabre Masquerade is a sparkly blue that glitters and shines and makes it a great "tardis blue-like" color. The TARDIS doesn't shimmer but this is so pretty, it's ok.

Sinful Colors Break Away is such a rich denim blue. It is sooo pretty. It's perfect for the fall. It's almost TARDIS blue but it's not quite there.

KleanColor in Leap of Grape

KleanColor in Leap of Grape is the closest that I have to TARDIS blue. It's what I wore on my toes for  the Doctor Who series premiere weekend. It's a beautiful blue that I think The Doctor would be proud of.

Wet n Wild in Blue Visionary is very un TARDIS blue. It almost doesn't fit the "tardis blue-like" qualifications. It's a very pretty pearl blue but you'd never mistake it for a Doctor Who blue.

Sephora Formula X in Zing is pretty and just qualifies for "tardis blue-like". Because of the touch of warmth in the color, I can get away with it on my fingers. The other blues are too cool for my hands but remember, my toes are party toes and they get party colors!

Wet n Wild in Blue Visionary , Sephora Formula X in Zing & Revlon's I'm Electro blue

And last but not least is Revlon's I'm Electro blue. Very far from "tardis blue-like" but still very galactic in nature. Because of that, you won't get kicked off of the TARDIS for wearing it.

Those are the TARDIS-ish colors that I had to choose from (and the one that won). Hopefully you too have loved a show or something so much that you had to pay homage to it in polish or makeup. It takes fandom to another level!

Nail Polish Change - Sinful Colors Pink Forever and Orly FX Fight On

Hey There!

I was super stoked to wear my Sinful Colors polish in Pink Forever because I picked it up from the clearance bin at Rite Aid. Normally, the bin is hit or miss but on this particular day, it was very hit. I got a lot of nail polish colors for 50% off and a few for 75% off. I picked up this color the same day I picked up the Orly FX polish in Fight On ($3.99 at Marshalls). When I pulled all of my goodies out of the bags, these two colors landed next to each other and this past week's color combo was born!

I loved the pink of the Sinful Colors polish. It's a pretty blue toned pink that will get much wear. When I put the first coat on it looked a bit pepto-bismolish and I got a scared but as it dried the pepto color toned down and I really began to like it.

The Orly FX glitter polish was pretty as well. The base color is a pretty pearlescent, pale pinky lilac. Do you see that glitter on my party nail and pinky? It was hard work to get that on those fingers. The first swipe of the brush yielded nothing but pearlescent color. The second swipe got about one piece of glitter on each nail. I had to shake the bottle, coax the glitter out and then dab the glitter on each nail! It was work! Maybe as I use more of the pearlescent color (and oh yes, I will), the glitter will be easier to get out.

Both colors are gorgeous and wear very well. The brushes tips were easy to work with and I actually was able to color inside the lines! Well, for the most part -- you know me!! These polishes will stay in rotation for sure.

Sunday Fun Day - Nail Polish Haul

Hey there!

Last week Walgreens put all of their Sinful Colors nail polishes on sale for .99 cents (to my knowledge it was all of them. I didn't hear that the special edition ones weren't on sale too but I could be mistaken). I don't have to tell anyone that I RAN to Walgreens to get every Sinful Colors nail polish that I didn't have. I have some Walgreens points/money so even though it looks like I spent a lot of money, I didn't really. And remember, each polish was only .99 cents!

Just a bit on my nail polish collection. It's not massive or anything and it's not exclusively drugstore or mostly high end -- it's a mix. I just like nail polish. I don't change my hair color or even my hair cut that often. Polish is something I can change every week or so. I can go very demure with a soft pink or mauve or I can go all out and wear a bright red or silver or a funky blue color. Until very recently, I kept all my nail polish in boxes and on my dresser and in my dresser drawers and anywhere else I could find space. So, when I needed a particular color or shade and couldn't find it, I'd either stop looking for it or just pick up another color similar. And then I stumbled on the perfect box and created the perfect spacers for that box.

I'll get to that in a second.

I had a few Sinful Colors nail polish shades before this Walgreens haul but I used this as my opportunity to beef up my collection. I picked up 20 new colors to add to the 11 that I already had. I didn't stop at the safe pink, peach and nude colors. I added some purples, blues, greens and deep reds. At .99 cents, I thought it was a smart move.

I visited 4 different Walgreens locations and they were all nicely stocked up. It appeared that had pulled out all of the shades from the back rooms and all the locations had them arranged nicely in their cases. I was pretty proud of Walgreens for keeping it all organized! Normally when I stop by my Walgreens locations, finding the collection (makeup ,nails, whatever) that I'm looking for is a hit or miss and a hit might mean that whatever I'm looking for is in the middle of a bit of a mess.

That was not the case this time. I was able to pick up 20 fan-tabulous colors to add to my collection. My toes and hands are going to be very happy this summer!! My Monday Nail Polish Change blogs are going to be full!

I also used this opportunity to show off my latest DIY project on Instagram!! If you've been on my Instagram page you saw that I made some inserts for my nail polish containers. There aren't perfect or anything but I am sooo proud of these! I mean look at it!! LOL. I took time out each evening after work for about 4 days to create this (it may only take 2 days now that I've done my starter one). If you are interested in a quick tutorial, let me know and I might add one to my Monday posts.

So get ready peeps! There's going to be quite a bit of nail polishing going on this summer!
