Sally Beauty Supply Haul - China Glaze & Finger Paints

A few weekends ago Sally Beauty Supply had a deep discount on their already discounted nail polishes. Right near the front door, my Sally Beauty had a table of China Glaze colors and Finger Paints colors. I don't really need nail polish but who waits until they need makeup and polish to buy them, right? Oh, there are people like that? Sorry, not me.

If you have been sleeping on Sally Beauty Supply for polish and makeup, you need to wake up. They have some top shelf polish. They also have all the accoutrements that you need for nail care, hand care, feet care as well as hair care. I find myself in there at least twice a month and I come out with some great deals and some wonderful new finds. If you join their beauty club, you get discounts. If you aren't interested in their beauty club, just checkout their discount tables and you'll still get great deals.

Anywho, I picked up 8 polishes and only paid about $12 total. I have a fair amount of China Glaze in my collection and only a few Finger Paints but I can tell you that all of the China Glaze & Finger Paints that I have, were purchased when they were heavily discounted. I kinda do that with nail polish. It's very rare that I buy it without some sort of discount.

So I picked up Howl You Doing, Be Merry Be Bright, Bells Will Be Blinging, Glitz n Pieces, Elfin' Around & Vertical Rush from China Glaze and A Heart For Art and Be A Pal-ette from Finger Paints. I haven't had a chance to use them yet so I swatched them on my wheel for you.

The glitters all look exciting to me except Howl You Doing. I'm not sure about that one. It looks like a matte purple. It may take me a while to try that one. The others are ready to be party nails!

The other two China Glaze and the two Finger Paint colors are pearlescent colors and they all look so delightful! I cannot wait to wear these.

Do you catch the Sally Beauty sale? Do you have China Glaze and Finger Paints in your collection?

Bite Beauty Luminous Crème Lipstick Duo

First, let me go ahead and lay blame. This purchase is totally YouTube's fault. And I thank them profusely for it! I saw several people review it on their channels and when they swatched them, I knew these were colors for me.

My Sephora is one of those smaller ones inside the JC Pennys. I like my smaller Sephora because the ladies that work there are awesome. They are super helpful and aren't afraid to say, "Girl, that is not the color for you!". Anyway, my Sephora only had the Vivid lipstick duo. Vivid contains Palomino (vibrant magenta) on one end and Violet (vibrant purple) on the other. That duo is waaaay too dark for me. I tried on both ends (just to be fair) and I looked kinda cray cray so I decided to forgo that purchase. Folks that know me know that I like the nudes and softer browns, pinks, etc.

So one Saturday, I decided to take a trip to the "Big Sephora" and see if they had the Neutral duo that contains Lychee (light neutral pink) and Musk (pink brown). Of course they had it and I fell absolutely in love with it!

(Sidebar - the sales ladies at that store were not very helpful. They told me that they probably didn't have the color I was looking for if I didn't see it. It was only because a lady in line heard me and saw the small boxes by the register that I ended up with this goodie. This is why I'm not fond of the bigger stores in my area).

This little lipstick duo is powerful. Both colors are creamy and glide on your lips, no lip balm needed! The colors are nicely saturated and last a very long time. I really enjoyed this duo and it stays in my makeup bag most days. I have to applaud Bite Beauty for making these duos because now that I've tried this one, I am very likely to try the full size (Retsina, Pepper and Bouquet, I'm coming for you!!).

Have you tried the Bite Beauty lipstick duos? If you don't like one, you are almost guaranteed to like the other! And, whether the sales ladies are nice or not, you can swatch them and see what you think.

And then go order them online if you'd like.

That's what I'd do!

Revlon Colorstay Quads

It's May! Where did April go? It was our month of love, remember that? We were all happy and positive because it was my birthday month! Well, that was April. And now that it's May, I'm going to get down and dirty and review some of the things I didn't love so much. These are things that didn't make me quite as happy in April.

CVS had some Revlon Colorstay Quads that looked really pretty and of course, they were BOGO ½ price. I bought Decadent and Precocious. They both looked so nice in the pans.

And that was just about the only place.

The color payout is horrible. For the swatches, I had to rub my finger in the pan much harder than I normally would for a shadow. And as you can see, the swatches are chalky and full of fallout. I tried using a brush for these and had to pull out a sponge tip applicator to get anything on my eyes. I’m just not a fan.

It’s odd because sometimes their shadows are great and have great payoff. And then they come out with another collection that isn’t great and is a pain to wear. Which is really too bad because I had high hopes for these quads. I really wanted to like these. But I don’t. And I’m pretty sure I won’t buy another one.

Now don't get scared. Today's review was bad but not all of May will be. I'll keep it even or even more skewed towards positive.

But not today...

not with these!
