Latest Lippie Love Combos

Normally I keep all of my current lippies just scattered on my makeup counter. They get in the way but I like having them handy (rather than put away nicely, like a normal person) so I decided to put them in an old candle jar. Then, I thought wow, I've been wearing the same color combos a lot! It actually slapped me in the face when I was going to put on my Valentine's Day lip combo. I've actually been wearing my VDay lippie for several days cause it's so pretty. I posted it on my Instagram and thought maybe the good people that read my blog would like to see the rest of my lip combos (of course they would!). So this one is for you!

Let's start with the first lippie love combo. For Valentine's Day (and several days after it) I was loving a pinky red lip. It's crazy how I forget that I can actually pull this off. My complexion has so much red in it, I can pull off a red with very little effort. This one though...wow! It's KatVonD's Studded Kiss Lipstick in Bachelorette and Revlon ColorBurst Lipgloss in Adorned. I line my lips with Rimmel London 1000 Kisses Lip Liner in Cherry Kiss. Va Va Va Voom! I love this combo. So pretty and so perfect for the day o'love!

I like a "nude for me" lipstick combo. There is something sultry about just a hint of color on the lips. One of my favorites is Urban Decay's Ladyflower topped with Milani's Mauve Fetish. I use NYX Nude Pink liner to line my lips. Lovely! It's a light nude that stays in rotation.

My other "just this side of nude" has been Bite Beauty Lipstick in Pepper, NYX Butter Gloss in Angel Food Cake and NYX liner in Nude Pink (again). It's a soft, sweet color that doesn't look like I'm wearing anything but oh, wait, yes I am. Again, looking natural takes a lot of makeup!

My darker nude is a combo of Maybelline ColorSensational Lipstick in Untainted Spice, NYX Butter Gloss in Angel Food Cake (again) and Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in Rich. It's not vampy or anything but it's a deeper nude that I've been loving for the winter months. The lipstick is matte but the Butter Gloss makes it moist. And, the look is day to night fantastic.

I have a ton of lipstick and I could/should be wearing it but these are my faves and they have been making the rounds more than any of the others. I guess it's probably proof that you don't need a ton of makeup to look 'purty' everyday. But really, having less makeup wouldn't be as much fun for either of us, would it?

Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick Set

Back in August I told you good people that I loved these lippies and had plans to get more. Well, thank you gift set gods because they put 9 gorgeous lipstick minis in a kit and I fell in love. I've heard some folks were a bit upset because these are minis. Well, that's ok to me. I might actually use up a lipstick AND it means I get to try before I buy...kinda.

I already had Lovecraft and the kiddo already claimed Wonderchilde so I have 7 pretty lippies to play with. Do you see them? I mean really, are you looking at them? The colors are so deep and beautiful. They are reds that run all over the spectrum. Orange red, nude, plummy, lilac, you name it, it's there. I love it.

The full size containers (as well the minis) are in a plastic container that yes, are a bit cheapy cheap but I like the lighter containers because I already have a heavy makeup bag. I'm ok with the plastic casings. I've said that they are comfortable to wear and last a good while. I find them to have good moisture -- a dry lipstick will get banded from my lipstick line up FAST. This lippie stays front row (literally).

In order on my ashy hand -- Countess, Agatha, Adora, Sexer, Wonderchilde, Bachelorette, Motorhead, Lovecraft and Hexagram. I mentioned that I already have Lovecraft but I am so ready to pop Bachelorette and Adora on my lips. These lipsticks are so creamy I'd have one on right now if I wasn't testing something else on my lips (who else is sitting around on a Sunday afternoon, sipping wine and testing lipsticks, concealer and eye makeup? I look like a clown).

If you were wondering if you should drop $39 for this little pretty, you should. You really, really should. You have to find 3 out of these 9 that you fall in love with. Or, you could be like me and love them all.

What Came In My Sephora VIB Box?

Do I have to tell you how super excited I was to get this package of goodies? Of course not. I think I did the happy dance right there at work. I placed my order a week ago and have "patiently" been waiting for my box 'o goodies. And now, they are here!

I spent so many weeks plotting and planning what I'd purchase. I wanted to make good purchases and only get things that I REALLY wanted, not that I kinda wanted. There were some things that I wanted now and some things I could wait until Black Friday weekend to get. And, there were some things that I wanted but tried out in the store and decided I didn't need.

The first thing you see (and the first thing in my Sephora basket) is the Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick Set. There are 9 lipsticks that I am soooo ready to play with. Well, 7 -- one of them. I already own the full size of Lovecraft and one of them the kiddo really liked in the store (Wonderchilde) and I said when I got this set, I was going to give it to her. I am going to have so much fun with this, just you wait and see.

The other large lipstick thing you see is the Urban Decay Full Frontal Lipstick Stash. 6 gorgeous lippies and a glide on pencil. I own one of these in a full size (Liar -- that's the name! I'm not calling anyone a liar) and I'm excited about trying them.

(Sorry. I'm excited about everything I bought! Why the hell would I not be?! I'll try not to say how excited I am again).

Look right above the Urban Decay package. Do you know what that is? It's my new NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Biscuit (you have to say it like that, with your color added). I have been talking about trying this for so long. I put this bugger in my Sephora basket months ago and never took it out. I knew it was coming home this time.

Next to that is the small NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer. I've said that I don't like foundation but I'll use a BB cream or tinted moisturizer or mix a foundation with some moisturizer. I wanted to try this one and see if I'll like it as much as my Lancôme BB cream (yes, I know they aren't the same thing).

I picked up the Hourglass Indestructible Matte Liquid Lipstick in Canvas because I wanted to see if it was really as nice as everyone said and I picked up the Anastasia Brow Wiz in Soft Brown because I had tried it in store before but I hadn't been using it correctly so I didn't like it. Now that I have learned how to use it, I think I'll like it better.

And those are all the goodies that I got! I love them, love them, love them (you know, through the packaging) and will rush back to let you know what I think of them after I use them. I'll also chat a bit about my Black Friday plans and why I didn't choose some other items that I had my eye one. I think it's almost as important to know what I didn't pick and why as it is to know what I did pick.

Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipsticks

A few weeks ago I went to my Sephora's Kat Von D Studded Kiss Event. I got there about 4.  By the time I got there the pickings were slim.  There are 20 shades of this new lipstick, but there were only about 14 left and just 1 or 2 of each. 

I swatched several of the lipsticks -- Agatha, Lolita, Petal Pink Nude, Mauve Pink Nude... you know how I do. I love my nudes. I only ended up bringing Lovecraft home. I wanted to test one before I purchased all the pretty ones that I saw.

I almost bypassed these because they are matte lipsticks. It's been my experience that matte lipsticks have been dry and are awful on my lips. I stay away from them a majority of the time. I have naturally dry lips. The last thing I need is more dryness.

This one wasn't dry. Kat Von D Studded Kiss lipsticks are smooth, moist and long lasting. 

The color that I chose is a beautiful pinky mauve. It's almost nude but not quite. It's that pinky milk chocolate color that I love. And, it smells good. I can't resist a lippie that smells good.

The Kat Von D Studded Kiss lipsticks are $21 at Sephora. I've worn cheaper and I've worn more expensive. I can tell you this...

I will wear this one (and other shades from the line) again.
